4 ways to get a Green Card through Family:

It is very possible to get Green Cards (become permanent residents) through your family members. If fact most people I know that entered the United States and later became citizens entered with the help of family that were already in the U.S.

You may be eligible to get a Green Card through one of these ways:

1-An immediate relative of a U.S. citizen, this includes spouses, unmarried children under the age of 21, and parents of U.S. citizen petitioners 21 or older. More info here.

2-A family member of a U.S. citizen fitting into a preference category, this includes unmarried sons or daughters over the age of 21, married children of any age, and brothers and sisters of U.S. citizen petitioners 21 or older. More info here.

3-A family member of a green card holder, this includes spouses and unmarried children of the sponsoring green card holder.

4-A member of a special category, this can include battered spouse or child (VAWA), Family of Refugees & Asylees, a K nonimmigrant, a person born to a foreign diplomat in the United States, a V nonimmigrant or a widow(er) of a U.S. Citizen. More info here:

There are many people that get Green Cards through Relatives. It just makes sense that the United States looks kindly on these types of requests. There’s no more common reason to ask for a visa or Green Card than wanting to be with Family.
